GEA and WaterStep aid hurricane survivors
GE Appliances and WaterStep, a Louisville-based non-profit which provides access to safe water, will send aid to Hurricane Florence victims in the Carolinas and Virginia.

“We often take clean water for granted, but in the aftermath of a disaster water becomes one of the most critical concerns for people who are left behind. Not just for drinking, but for bathing, cleaning, washing clothes and cooking,” said WaterStep President Mark Hogg.

The $25,000 donation from GE Appliances, will allow five WaterStep team members to bring crucial equipment to areas most affected by Hurricane Florence. The WaterStep team will transport a Mobile Disaster Water Cart which includes a relief disaster kit, generators, filters, multiple bleach makers, solar panels and more.

“Whether its responding to a crisis in Puerto Rico or in our own backyard, WaterStep is a homegrown non-profit that’s doing important work,” said GE Appliances President & CEO Kevin Nolan. “Their equipment is innovative and at the end of the day, it saves lives. We’re proud to support them, and even more proud to say they are a part of our community.”

Since 2009, WaterStep has responded to 10 different natural disasters and has provided safe water to over three million people worldwide through their disaster and water initiative work.
