GE Appliances Expands Commercial HVAC Portfolio with New R-32 VRF Platform

LOUISVILLE, Ky., July 15, 2026 — GE Appliances, a Haier company, today announced the launch of the GE R-32 Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) platform from GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions® expanding its commercial HVAC portfolio with a solution designed to help consulting engineers, specification representatives and mechanical contractors simplify system design, support project execution and specify commercial VRF systems with greater confidence.

Commercial VRF projects are complex by nature. Engineers and spec reps must balance performance, compliance, building design, installation requirements, serviceability and long-term owner expectations, often across projects with multiple decision makers and evolving specifications. The GE R-32 VRF platform is built to support that process with trusted VRF technology, flexible application capabilities and centralized technical resources backed by GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions.

The portal includes submittals, product catalogs, technical diagrams, cut sheets, quick-spec guides, BIM resources and related materials designed to help representatives respond faster to design teams and support engineering decisions throughout the bidding process.

The GE R-32 VRF platform includes GE MRV-7 and GE MRV-7S systems for a range of commercial applications. The platform offers heat pump and heat recovery configurations, flexible capacity options, extended piping capabilities, third-party air handling unit integration, and wireless communication. It is designed to support challenging building layouts, retrofit applications, occupant comfort needs, and projects where architectural flexibility is important.

The GE MRV-7 system offers 6- to 20-ton single-chassis modules, with combinations of up to 36 tons. The GE MRV-7S system supports 3- to 5-ton heat recovery applications, including single-phase configurations for lighter commercial and flexible project requirements.

Across the platform, available features include lower-GWP R-32 refrigerant technology, enhanced corrosion protection, precise temperature control, advanced variable refrigerant adjustment, quiet operation, wide operating ranges and compatibility with multiple indoor unit options, including multi-position air handlers, cassettes, ducted units, highwalls, heat recovery, and refrigerant isolation boxes.

The launch advances GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions’ broader commercial HVAC strategy as the business continues expanding its portfolio and support model for commercial customers across North America.

GE APPLIANCES UNVEILS NEW HVAC SOLUTIONS AT AHR EXPO 2026 DESIGNED TO SIMPLIFY INSTALLS AND EXPAND RETROFIT OPTIONS

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 2, 2026 — GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions will showcase a new generation of commercial and residential HVAC solutions at the 2026 AHR Expo, designed to give contractors more installation flexibility as building and jobsite realities grow increasingly complex.

“As labor pressures continue to challenge the industry, contractors are increasingly being asked to do more with less,” said Robyn Gastol, commercial director of HVAC at GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions. “At the same time, homeowners and property managers are feeling the impact of rising replacement costs, making flexible, right-sized solutions more important than ever. Our latest offerings are designed to adapt to the job—helping contractors deliver the right fit without added complexity or cost.”

Commercial Solutions

At the center of the lineup are the new MRV-7 and MRV-7S VRF systems.

● MRV-7 features a single-chassis design supporting capacities up to 20 tons, making it ideal for large zones while minimizing roof congestion and refrigerant piping. The system uses environmentally friendly R32 refrigerant with six layers of protection to enhance safety and reliability.

● MRV-7S offers superior performance with industry-leading efficiency and a wide operating temperature range, delivering 100% heating capacity at 5°F. Its versatile design includes long piping options and outdoor units from 2 to 5 tons, paired with multiple indoor unit styles, making it well suited for phased retrofits, mixed-use properties and tight mechanical spaces. It also uses R32 refrigerant.

MRV-7 and MRV-7S are supported by GE Appliances’ proven wireless MRV-Link communication network, which replaces traditional labor-intensive daisy chain wiring between indoor units. By eliminating the need to run communication cables throughout the building, MRV-Link helps reduce installation time and simplify future system modifications or expansions.

GE Appliances’ AHU Connection Kit will also be on display. This kit enables contractors to pair outdoor units with existing or preferred indoor equipment, expanding design options and enabling retrofits where replacing the entire indoor system would be costly or disruptive.

Multifamily and Hospitality

GE Appliances has expanded its Zoneline® vertical terminal air conditioner lineup with the introduction of new 2-ton models, addressing growing demand for higher-capacity HVAC solutions in hospitality, multifamily, assisted living and light commercial applications.

The 2-ton Zoneline UltimateV11™ and UltimateV12™ both feature variable-speed inverter technology that modulates output from 5,000 to 24,000 BTUs. Paired with an ultraquiet twin-rotor compressor, the system operates longer at lower speeds to improve energy efficiency, humidity control and overall comfort.

With a SEER2 rating of up to 13.9, the units deliver increased capacity without increasing energy costs. They also operate as cold-climate heat pumps capable of reliable performance down to zero degrees.

Ultimately, these systems eliminate the need to introduce more complex rooftop or multiunit systems. They can also be stacked with a lowboy water heater in a single closet, freeing exterior walls while creating a quieter, more residential-style guest and tenant experience.

Residential HVAC

Rounding out the portfolio is the new Haier Side-Discharge Inverter Heat Pump, designed for space-constrained projects where traditional systems don’t fit. With a zero-lot-line installation depth as low as 17-1/8 inches and industry-leading clearance requirements (14 inches front/4 inches back), contractors can install the unit in locations previously considered inaccessible.

The system delivers dependable cold-climate performance down to –22°F and is ENERGY STAR® certified for efficiency. A wide range of available AHRI matches with air handlers and evaporator coils, plus 24V thermostat compatibility, also give contractors the flexibility to integrate this system with existing equipment.

According to the Department of Energy, water heating makes up about 18% of a home’s energy use and is typically the second largest energy expense in any home². The GE Profile GEOSPRING utilizes advanced heat pump technology to provide up to 4.7 times more energy efficiency than standard electric water heaters and is up to 20% more energy efficient compared to other heat pump water heaters, leading to significant savings on energy bills. The FlexCapacity feature, made possible with a patented, electronic integrated mixing valve, can provide up to 60% more hot water³.

GE Appliances Air & Water Solutions Announces New VRF MRV-5H System for Commercial Spaces

The VRF MRV-5H is a new generation dual heat pump, dual heat recovery system offering high efficiency and superior comfort for multi-room commercial spaces.

The MRV-5H system consists of an outdoor unit with a powerful, high-efficiency full DC inverter compressor and fan motor that powers a variety of indoor units. This allows for maximum output and quick heating or cooling of each indoor space.

The plant is vertically integrated and will produce units starting from coils of steel into high-quality water heaters for homes across the U.S. The new plant includes advanced systems for metal fabrication and welding, robotics for material handling and processing, and enameling of the steel. During the construction and in preparation for launch, more than 50 team leaders and maintenance employees completed more than 5,700 hours of training in robotics, welding and mechatronics at nearby Central Carolina Technical College (CCTC). The plant will initially employ 140 people.
