LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 26, 2025 – GE Appliances, a Haier company, today released its 2024 Economic Impact Report, underscoring the powerful role it plays in strengthening the economic and social fabric of Tennessee. GE Appliances’ footprint in Tennessee, which includes 940 employees across its Monogram Refrigeration, LLC plant in Selmer and two national call center locations in Memphis and Nashville, contributed $1.2 billion annually to the state’s GDP .
Beyond its employees, GE Appliances has also fueled an additional 3,350 jobs through its operations and local supplier network. The company’s investments also drove $248 million in annual spending with 270 Tennessee-based suppliers.
Manufacturing operations in McNairy County
GE Appliances continues to expand and modernize its Monogram Refrigeration, LLC plant in Selmer, which manufactures high-end Monogram®, Café™, and GE Profile™ refrigerators and Zoneline® air conditioners. Key highlights include:
- A $22 million investment in 2019 to expand PTAC and VTAC production lines.
- An additional $5 million investment in 2021 to enhance production capacity
- Implementation of a new, environmentally friendly refrigerant (R454B) for Zoneline® units.
- The launch of integrated bottom-freezer refrigerators across multiple premium brands in 2023.
As part of its 2024 growth strategy in Tennessee, GE Appliances expanded employee-focused initiatives at its Selmer facility, including a four-day, 10-hour workweek, on-site primary care clinic for employees and their family members, and $500,000 in HVAC upgrades to improve air flow and keep plant temperatures cooler during summer months. The company also launched the STAY program with McNairy County Schools, offering part-time jobs and OSHA certifications to graduating seniors.

Autonomous vehicle innovation in rural Tennessee
GE Appliances continues to lead innovation with its partnership with Einride. In 2022, with approval from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Einride and GE Appliances completed an industry first by operating a fully autonomous, electric vehicle without a safety driver on board on U.S. public roads in McNairy County. Now part of daily operations in Selmer, the autonomous vehicle sand workflow supports sustainable logistics between the plant and warehouse.
The 2024 Economic Impact Report shows GE Appliances supports over 98,000 U.S. jobs across industries from manufacturing to healthcare.
