COMPANY HISTORY

  • My Old Kentucky Home: In the 1950s during the post -WW2 housing boom, General Electric consolidated its appliance operations into Louisville, which was centrally located to U.S. consumers and had excellent infrastructure and distribution capabilities. The first dryers shipped on Feb. 6, 1953.

  • Established in 1951, Appliance Park was one of the first industrial parks in the U.S. and boasts its own zip code – 40225.

  • Close to 10 years ago, GE Appliances became part of Haier Smart Home following an acquisition from former parent General Electric.

  • In 2025, GE Appliances was honored with the National Metalworking Reshoring Award for leadership in reshoring and U.S. manufacturing investment.
