LOUISVILLE, Ky., —April 24, 2015— Today, more than 300 volunteers from GE Appliances’ Technology team will embark on renovating the Wayside Christian Mission facility at 432 E. Jefferson Street. This facility serves as a day and emergency shelter for Louisville’s homeless as well as some permanent supportive housing for women and children.
During this daylong event, GE Volunteers will landscape the front of the facility, planting 100 bushes and trees to beautify the campus. A bike rack will be installed, as well as a bike repair/storage shed to serve the occupants whose only means of transportation is a bike. The facility will also receive a facelift with new paint on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
"Wayside Christian Mission is so grateful for GE's help on these much-needed projects. With the help of the GE Technology employees, our programs will be moved farther ahead and our homeless women and families will especially benefit," said Nina Moseley, chief operating officer for Wayside Christian Mission.

About Wayside Christian Mission
Continuing to serve as one of Louisville's main safety nets, Wayside Christian Mission tackles the root causes of homelessness using a proven holistic approach. Alcoholism, substance abuse, domestic violence, mental illness, and a lack of education and/or vocational skills are among the leading causes of homelessness. By addressing the primary causes of homelessness in a nurturing, caring environment, those bound by poverty and addiction have been able to return to the community as sober, self-supporting citizens.
